Darla Deguire
Consultant
Founded in 2021, Cedar + Sage Boutique Retreats Founder Darla Deguire is an entrepreneur and social change educator with more than twenty years of experience running custom workshops, events, and retreats. She was born and raised on the Canadian Prairies and is a proud Cree-Métis woman and a member of the Muskoday First Nation.
Prior to founding her own business, Darla worked for the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) for 17 years. In her most recent role as Prairie Regional Director, the largest region spanning from Alberta to Manitoba and the Northwest Territories, Darla’s primary areas of responsibilities included overseeing a broad range of stakeholder management responsibilities, member education and political activities for the region. Prior to serving as Director, Darla worked for nearly a decade as a CLC Saskatchewan Representative where she delivered countless workshops and was responsible for coordinating hundreds of campaign related activities and actions. In addition to her career in the prairies, Darla also served a term as the Acting Regional Director in the Atlantic Region based in New Brunswick.
Though she maintains a strong commitment to addressing issues locally, Darla has been involved in several national and international projects. She is an Alumni member to the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, which brings together Canada’s emerging leaders from the business community, labour, public administration, NGOs, and the education and cultural sectors. The conference is a unique experience aimed at broadening participants’ perspectives on work, leadership, their communities, and their country. Darla was also a part of the Canadian delegation to the International Trade Union Confederation’s (ITUC) founding convention in Vienna, Austria, where working people from across the globe gather to address international labour issues.
Her passion for adult education has been featured on the international stage; for the past several years she has been a part of a Canadian delegation responsible for developing and delivering various union member workshops, in partnership with the Bermuda Public Services Union (BPSU).
Darla credits daughter Brittany and husband Terry as her source of support and motivation as she continues to build her new business and continue to make a difference in her community. Volunteerism is also an important part of her life and she finds time to give back to the community on the Boards of Directors for both the United Way of Saskatoon and SaskTel Centre. Darla currently is studying in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Cape Breton University, which she is scheduled to complete in 2024.
